SupaMoto Academy
What the Academy is
SupaMoto was founded to break the charcoal economy. What it costs a household, what it takes from the forest, and the smoke that stays in the kitchen with whoever is cooking. We replace it with pellets made from waste biomass, and a stove built to burn them.
A stove on its own changes very little. Somebody has to sit with a family, listen to how they really cook, and answer their questions honestly enough to be trusted. That works best when the person doing it comes from the same community.
That is what the SupaMoto Academy teaches, and it teaches it in the community where the work happens.
Every course here is built around real work. This is a learning to earning pathway: you learn the work, you do it for real, and you earn from what you do. Each day's work is checked before it counts.
Everyone who applies to the Academy gets a real answer and a next step, whether they join us or go on somewhere else.
The Academy is built to grow from the inside. Part of what we look for in every group is the people who will go on to teach the one after them, and the Academy trains and equips them to run a course of their own. It means the person standing in front of the next group can come from the community that group belongs to.
Bauleni is where the first course is running, and the Academy grows from there, community by community.
The course journey
How it Works
Ten days of real work, in your own community.
Learn
You learn the stove, the pellet, and how a sale really happens. By Thursday you are knocking on your first door with a mentor beside you.
Practise
You find your own customers and demonstrate the stove, with your mentor nearby while you do it.
Perform
You run your own day and work to a number you have agreed. This is the week that shows you what you can do.
